Aliano e i Calanchi
Landscapes of Aliano.
Carlo Levi is an honorary citizen of Aliano; in his book "Cristo si é fermato a Eboli" he tells his life in Aliano at that time: enslaved peasants, the most absolute of miseries, the malaria that was raging. Carlo Levi took the side of the poor people and helped them become aware of their own value so that they could move forward, progress and confront those who, for convenience, should keep them poor and ignorant.
Aliano is surrounded by calanchi, wonderful and impressive orographic formations, derived from the corrosion of clay soil by water and wind.
